98.3 to be K-Love tomorrow

Pittsburgh:

Speculation has been mounting since the announcement that Froggy would be ditching 98.3 FM on September 1, and today the speculation was announced as being true. Educational Media Foundation will be taking the signal over tomorrow with their K-Love format - a contemporary Christian network feed. No price has been announced in the LMA-to-buy deal but it is considered to be a boost to Froggy owner Keymarket which has been dealing with some financial issues.

The WOGI calls will move to 104.3 replacing WOGF and 104.3 out of Racoon State Park will become the main signal for the station. Simulcast on 94.9 (WOGG - Oliver, PA) and 103.5 (WOGH - Burgettstown) will continue.

OK Eric. I still notice that when I look on Radio-Locator.com, I see K-Love is also on at 103.1 Waynesburg, PA with a CP to move to Mount Pleasant, PA.
I also know that BCI, has been running a translator on 104.1 out of Waynesburg, PA., but for the last 3 months all he is running is “DEAD AIR”, in other words “NO AUDIO”. So I wonder if K-Love might be in the works for those frequencies.

I have to say I called it! Not really hard, I just thought to myself “what would suck the most?” Than I knew thats exactly what they would do. Lets see, from my West Mifflin location I can hear K-Love on 94.1, 97.5, 97.7, 97.9, 98,3, 98.5, 105.5. And I’m sure I overlooked a few. Thank you FCC this is so much better than choice.

“K-LOVE”, if you believe everything Radio-Locator says, then you believe that WRCT still airs “Music for the Deaf” or that WSHH is still “Wish 100”. The reason WKVE is listed as such on 103.1 is simply because those were the calls used on one of the K-Love stations elsewhere before being assigned to 103.1 earlier this year. For whatever reason, Radio-Locator never pulled the K-Love piece off there.

“JR” – Congratulations on calling it.

Since this has been done official, it will be interesting to see what happens to 94.9 FM (The Original Froggy Signal in Western PA) and what will happen to the WPKL FM and WASP AM.

Unless Keymarket plans on selling off its other area stations, I don’t think 94.9, 99.3 or 1130 will make any changes.

105.5 and 99.3 are new to me, From the froggy website…

Pittsburgh’s WOGI

Tune all your radios today — at home, at work,
and in your car or truck – to 104.3

Looks like Keymarket got the K-Love Pittsburgh city-area translators as part of the deal. Smart move.
