Dish Network to provide locals in every U.S. market
National News: It was announced recently that Dish Network will be adding 29 local markets to its list of local channels. These 29 markets are the last markets remaining in the U.S. which will make Dish Network the first satellite TV provider to offer local channels to every TV market in the country. This is something Directv has yet to do but that could change according to a reliable source. Read the comments section for more details.Readers’ Forum

That would be good news for the Erie market. I had read nothing regarding Directv adding Erie but I know who you are and you are on top of things like this. Thanks for the heads up.

The Wheeling/Steubenville market will be happy to hear that. I know plenty of people in that market that have been frustrated with WTRF not wanting to air on satellite, with some people not even being able to watch CBS or NBC programming because of WTRF. (ABC & Fox were available through those station’s respective O&O’s in New York & LA.) I heard WTOV was willing to join in the past but WTRF’s unwillingness essentially left WTOV out. My question is, since I’m assuming that WTRF’s Fox & ABC subchannels will be available (in HD maybe?), if WBWO—the cable-only CW affiliate—and RTV on WTOV-DT2 will be available. I don’t see MyNetworkTV sticking around much longer since WWE SmackDown is moving to cable in October, leaving that network without any original programming.
