NFL Primetime to KDKA-FM

Pittsburgh:

KDKA-FM (93.7) announced today that it will feature live broadcasts of the NFL games played on Sunday, Monday and Thursday evenings throughout the 2010-11 season. The coverage will be provided by Westwood One, the exclusive NFL network radio partner since 1987. The coverage includes 40 regular season games, playoffs and the Super Bowl and begins this Sunday, August 8, with the Hall of Fame game from Canton, Ohio between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals.

The station will also feature the weekly "NFL Preview Show" during the season. The 30-minute program hosted by Boomer Esiason will air on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. "NFL Network Now" will also air daily throughout the season beginning August 9 at 10:20 p.m. Both programs are fed from Westwood One.

KDKA-FM is known as Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan.

This is big news for The Fan. Probably the only games they will not carry will be any with the Steelers due to their games on WDVE / WBGG. Stll, this move will help provide other games to the Pittsburgh market as well as listeners well outside of Pittsburgh.

Very big news. Don’t write this station off yet, it has only been 6 months and they havent even been through a full football season. In addition to adding programs like this I wouldn’t be surprised if in September or so we get some lineup changes regarding show hosts. It would be another coup for them if they could lure Ellis Cannon out of “retirement”. I seem to recall when Mark Madden was on 1250 and he and Ellis’ shows ran into each other in the 6-7pm hour, Ellis usually beat him.
