Last of the former Beacon stations changes formats

Youngstown:

Following Friday night's high school football game carried on WEXC 107.1, the station known briefly as AC "C-107" become the newest "K-Love" affiliate. EMF Broadcasting purchased WEXC along with WGRP 940 and WLOA 1470 and will simulcast on all 3 stations until a buyer for the 2 AM stations is found. K-Love plays more Adult Contemporary style of Christian music while their sister network "Air 1" is more Christian Rock based. The closest Air 1 affiliate is out of Ashtabula county in Jefferson, Ohio on WCVJ 90.9.

K-Love is a virus that needs to be stopped. From my house I can get nearly ten K-Love stations and translators. It makes me sick to see so much bandwith wasted on duplicate programming. no wonder broadcast radio is dying.

Between K-Love & the Family Life Network stations in and around Erie county, it’s very depressing to see the radio dial overcrowded by such stations & transltors. I’ll support local broadcasters like Joe Vilkie & Chris Lash who want to bring local radio back to the towns they serve.

Positive, all-engulfing K-Love.

K-Love has now invaded Western Maryland with WLVV, 88.3, Midland (transmitter on Dans Mountain just SW of Cumberland). I concur with the opinion of earlier posts that there’s already too much spectrum being occupied by these types of stations. This one also makes it more difficult to receive WAMU, 88.5 from DC.

The interference issue with such stations does make it hard to receive stations you want to hear. Fortunately you can at least listen to stations you want to hear on the internet.
