Watson departing KDKA-TV

Pittsburgh:

KDKA-TV weekend anchor Stephanie Watson will leave the station after this weekend to pursue opportunities on the West Coast. While Watson had the opportunity at the evening anchor position after the retirement of Patrice King Brown earlier this year, she had been working without a contract for the last two years. She decided it would be best to return to Southern California to pursue a job "with the security of a contract."

It might help Ms. Watson if she’d learn proper English usage. Mispronouncing “Route 22” as “Rawt 22” is improper and makes her sound like a hick.

Persue??? Sorry, but if Pittsburgh Radio & TV Online had any credibility before, it’s in the toilet now.

Rick, must you attack every individual who works in this market?
Mark, gosh we’re sorry. We do make mistakes. Darn. And for the record, I’ve seen websites with worse spelling errors than that. Thanks for pointing that out, the problem is fixed.

Read the remarks I made about the demotion of Guy Junker and tell me if that was an attack on him. Just because I despise poor English usage and the sight of white shirts worn by studio anchors day after day after day after day doesn’t mean I don’t see any good in the the, at least, 90 percent, who warrant praise.

Eric – Comments who point out, criticize and make a big deal out of minute grammar, spelling or punctuation errors in someone’s post or website are made by incredibly lonely pitiful people whose life is so devoid of any happiness or meaning that the only way they can get a snippet of joy or recognition is by sending silly and inane comments like that. Its the only way that they can make themselves feel superior to others. I really hope that response you got was meant as a joke (I don’t get it) if not look upon this person with pity. Eric – you’re doing a great job and take notes like that as a badge of honor… you’re obviously reaching people… once you get notes like that you’ve made it.

My best…

Always find it funny that Pittsburghers (or at least im assuming most of us are), would pick apart the way people say things n’at. I mean yinz guys act like we don’t spout out odd phrases.

Anyway in all seriousness I can’t blame someone for wanting to be home and have better job security. Just not sure California is where I’d want to be.

I didn’t really find her to be that personable. Viewers/listeners in the Pittsburgh market seem to thrive on people that are more like the folks next door. She didn’t banter with the anchors, or smile all that much from what I can remember.

Big mistake on the part of Ms Watson to return to California for the “security of a contract.” She did an adequate job with KD and she probably should have stayed at Gateway Center. This was nothing more than Ms Watson throwing a snit because she didn’t get Patrice’s old anchor gig. I wonder how Christine reacted to the new out-of-station hires?
