Former radio personality victim of crime
Pittsburgh:
An in-home care worker surrendered Monday on charges that she stole more than $65,000 from former radio personality Kathy Kerestes. Kerestes, known for her work as a news anchor for the O'Brien and Garry morning show on WTAE-AM (1250) in the 1980s, suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and is wheelchair bound. She had set up an online banking account earlier in the year and allowed the care taker, Helen Thorne, to use the bank card to get money for medication, but only allowed her to access $100.00 at a time. Instead, Thorne allegedly used the card to make ATM withdrawls larger than the $100.00 limit at locations like the Rivers Casino and the Waterfront in Homestead. The Post-Gazette reports that the unauthorized withdrawls went unnoticed because Kerestes was not receiving bank statements in the mail.

I remember hearing Kathy on the radio back then and am sorry to hear of this turn of events. My mother had MS, so I understand what she is going through. I had often wondered what happened to Kathy and I hope they are successful in prosecuting the woman who stole the money from her.

Thoughts and prayers for Kathy, she was a perfect fit for Larry & John and like Scout dished it back!
On the lighter side get Lt Macho on the case!
God bless Kathy and stay strong.

I knew Kathy from the days she worked at WESA ... the one in Charleroi, that is … This may sound ironic given the allegation about Rivers Casino, but I would commend to Kathy a favorite Scripture of mine … Numbers 6:24-26. May God bless her and keep her.
