WDUQ calls show up on Benwood WV station

West Virginia:

Effective on 1/1, WVJW-LP in Benwood, West Virginia became WDUQ-LP. The station has been on the air since August, 2002 and is owned by Kol Ami Havurah Synagogue in Benwood. The WDUQ callsign was long used on Pittsburgh's 90.5 FM until the station was officially sold in September 2011. "DUQ" was chosen as the letters are a form of the word "report".

The WDUQ callsign was used continuously by D.U. beginning in 1949 when the station went on the air. As a D.U. alumni who also was on the air at WDUQ, I am still upset that the University sold the station. A sad end to the first public radio station in Pittsburgh.
