Koeppen returns to air; faces future surgery

Pittsburgh: 39-year-old KDKA-TV anchor Susan Koeppen suffered a cardiac arrest back in November 2011 and nearly lost her life. Fortunately she was one of a statistical few who overcame the odds and recovered. Koeppen returned to KDKA's 6:00 p.m. newscast Monday night after being off since the episode happened. She still faces open-heart surgery in March to repair a fawlty heart valve which is believed to be the cause of her health scare. She told the story of her experience on KDKA and has also shared it with the Post-Gazette.

I wish Susan Godspeed and good luck in her upcoming surgery. I can testify to the need to take care of one’s physical health and suggest that kind of care of everyone, not just those of us in various aspects of the media business.
