Why doesn’t some FM station here in Pittsburgh pick up this great morning entertainment show? It was on for a while a few years back and then “Bob” radio came on. How boring. If you get the chance to catch Bob and Tom in the a.m. you’ll love it. Also, there is a pair out of Charlotte NC by the name of John Boy and Billy. They are fantastic. They are also syndicated and I cannot remember what station in Wheeling or Weirton carries them. These are so much better than the choices we have here – especially Larry Richert and John Shumley.

Richert and Schumway aren’t meant to sound anything like Bob & Tom or anything of the like. I don’t remember off hand what the ratings for Bob & Tom were in Pittsburgh. But they couldn’t have been too great back in ’05 when the station went “BOB.”

A classic rock station that I listen to in my “new” home of Virginia tried Bob and Tom. They sounded so bad – they weren’t funny at all. I think the station took them off the air in less than a month and they went back to having a live DJ in morning drive.

Bob & Tom also had a brief run on WMMS 100.7 in Cleveland. However, it wasn’t the right fit for an active rocker like ‘MMS. Keeping in the “Bob” theme, 102.3 was an alternative station which carried another syndicated morning show called “Bob & Sherri”. I joked with people who were upset when the station changed format to “Z-102.3” and Bob & Sherri were dropped. I said “Well, ‘Bob’ is still on” even though it’s a different Bob. Then there’s Erie’s “Bob FM.”

Who didn’t know that Richert and Shumway aren’t meant to sound anything like Bob and Tom? I agree, maybe Bob and Tom are not funny all the time but they were certainly a better alternative to Richert and Shumway. You know, Richert was doing just fine before they added Shumway and ugh Shelly Duffy.
