TV Scorecard
Pittsburgh:Here's what is happening this weekend on your TV for the Super Bowl.
- WPXI - the NBC affiliate showing the game in Pittsburgh - has expanded 11 p.m. news coverage by 10 minutes all week. Darieth Chisolm, Gordon Loesch, Alby Oxenreiter, Bill Phillips and Rich Walsh are representing the station in Tampa.
- WTAE has pre-empted Inside Edition all week (irking most) as they bring further coverage of the event called the Super Bowl. Sally Wiggin, Andrew Stockey, Bill Hillgrove, Marcie Cipriani, Guy Junker and Merril Hoge are the station reps.
- KDKA sent Bob Pompeani and John Schumway.
Readers’ Forum
The Super Bowl coverage is similar to election day. It’s a big event, but you can’t wait for all the idiocy to be finished. I knew Channel 11 was saving their money for the SB coverage: nobody went to the inauguration, but half the news team is in Tampa for the Steelers. However, I am happy to see Sally Wiggin got to go for WTAE, since the station has pretty much relieved her of all other responsibilities. Channel 2 only sent two guys, but I think they actually do the most Steeler stories. Of course, when you run news from 4p-7p, the stories seem to run together. The radio side is no better. One of the local stations ran an interview with one of the player’s parents. If you have nothing pertinent to say about the game, talk about the Pens or Pirates.
