I must say that I was truly devastated when I woke up Monday morning to find you were gone… no warningÂ… nothing! Don’t get me wrong I like Shelly but so far her and JR don’t fit. I have listened to STAR for at least 10 years. I heard John come and go, I’ve heard Bubba come and go…even you’re producers but I never though I would wake up one day and you (Kate) would be gone! It was a really terrible way to wake up in the morning and try to continue with the rest of the day! I always thought that we would listen to you until your baby John got into High School at least!
It was truly a sad day in the radio world when I woke up on Monday April 20 to find the morning show go from JR and Kate (which sounds WAY better btw) to JR and Shelly!

so sorry to see you. I wish you nothing but the best in your career seach. I am glad to inform you that the Star morning show is just not the same. With Shelley Duffy taking over the show is so lame and I don’t think it will take long for the management to realize they made a BIG mistake. Everytime she goes to a new station I automatically change it-I can’t listen to hear, she is just awful. At times I think that it takes JR a second to realize that you are not working with him, and it almost sounded like a couple of times he wanted to say “JR & Kate” instead of JR & Shelley…that is about the only funny thing about the show…..needless to say-I switched to BOB.
Good luck, Kate…and enjoy your time with your little one….

wow…how sad. Kate was the spark in the morning. Not so sure I will listen now, as she was the reason I started listening is the first place. Enjoy your son, and I hope to hear that great laugh soon.

i was so sad to hear kate was not on the show monday morning….i miss your witty comments with j.r. it is not the same at all…..i hope you take advantage of the time with you son and enjoy!!!

I’ll be frank here. I enjoyed Bubba, and always tuned in to the 3 of you. Suddenly he was gone…okay…it wasn’t the same, but I stayed with it b/c I also liked you, Kate, and the music. Now, suddenly (and sadly) we have Shelley, and I’m thinking what the heck happened!
Sorry to say, I can no longer listen to the show. It’s awful, in my opinion. No longer amusing or entertaining or even likeable for this listener. Also, can’t pinpoint it, but there’s something about Shelley that irritates me, and honestly I’ve never been JR’s biggest fan anyway.
Hanging on by a thread (and hoping to hear what happened to you), this morning was the last straw. Shelley reports that Jay Leno is hospitalized and she chooses to take that opportunity to throw in that she doesn’t like Jay. What kind of person does that, and furthermore, who cares what she thinks?? Then JR chimes in, he agrees. WHATEVER!! I happen to be a big Leno fan, but even if I wasn’t…that was rather distasteful in my book.
So, I’m done with it. Don’t care for the way they do business at this station. Good luck, Kate, you are missed. Any other station will be lucky to have you.
And by the way….here’s a DJ out of work (for NO apparent good reason), and there’s one with TWO jobs. That irritates me as well.

Another one bites the dust. I hate it when you guys just “disappear.” You become like family to us. Never cared for JR so I’d like to hear the Kate and Shelly Show. Go Ladies!!! Enjoy time with your little one. They grow up so fast. I will definitely miss you and good luck. Let us know if you end up on air in Pgh so we can tune in.

I agree! Shelly Duffy is awful on this morning show. But then again, she was terrible with the KD morning team – that has not been the same since Cigna retired. What were they thinking replacing Kate with Duffy? I would bet that a lot of folks agree and are not going to listen. Okay, tell me, what is the fascination with Shelly Duffy? I turn the station when I hear her on KD and when I hear her on any commercial I turn the station.

I can’t believe you are gone. I do not like Shelly Duffy — JR is bad enough – Kate you were the bright spot. At least they still play the commercials you did. Being from Beaver County it was nice to hear you talk about it on the air. I checked in on Bubba once in a while after he left — checked there to see if Kate moved over with the Fun Guys but no luck. Would love to hear “what Kate is thinking”!! Hope you are back soon! But until then have fun it’s almost summer and you can PLAY !!

The morning show at 100.7 hasn’t been the same since Kate left(?) the show. I don’t know about anyone else, but in my opinion, there’s no chemistry between JR and Shelley. When Kate was on the show, you could tell that she and JR were friends and that there was a connection between them. JR and Shelly seem like strangers riding on the “T.” I’m a fan of JR’s but it’s just not the same. I may need to find another show to wake up to and for my morning commute. Good luck to you Kate!

At first I thought I missed the announcement that you were on vacation. I thought, “Well, Shelly is a dud of a replacement, but OK. It’ll just be a week.” Then I see that you’re gone. Sigh. You were the spark on the show. I also never realized how much of JR’s humor and likeability were actually based on the way he played off of and related to you. I don’t find him funny lately and the show is so boring. So back to 102.5 or 96.9 for me in the mornings. Sigh – miss you and good luck.

It was awful the week you were on vacation and they should have realized it then. Please let your fans know where you end up because I will switch to that station the minute I find out that you’re going there. Good luck and enjoy this time with your son.

Kate: Like everyone else, I can’t believe you are no longer on the air. I really enjoyed the chemistry between you and JR, and yes, “The JR & Shelly Show” just is NOT the same. What WERE they thinking?!? Hope you are back on the air soon — keep us fans posted on where, ‘cuz for SURE we will follow you to your new station. Best of luck — enjoy your time wiht the little one.
